Google introduced a new way to sync Google contacts with iOS devices.
This method of synchronization became available through the inclusion of support for the open protocol CardDAV third-party applications, one of which in this case is the native iOS Contacts application. Although there are already many ways to configure Google Contacts sync with iOS devices, including via Exchange, the plus of this solution, as with Exchange, is also the lack of the need to install additional applications.
Step-by-step configuration of Google Contacts sync with iOS:
- Open “Settings” on your device
- Select “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” -> “Add Account …” -> “Other” -> “Add CardDAV Account”
- Fill in the fields “Server: google.com”, “User Name: full address of Google Account”, “Password: Google Account password”, “Description: some account description”.
- Click “Next” at the top of the screen.
- Make sure that the “Contacts” option is enabled
After the setup is complete, the synchronization will start automatically.
