Universal rules
The first rule of fire water: strong alcohol does not drink liters (light, too, would not have to). This is a long drink you can easily pull the whole evening through a tube, and with piles it will not work. Two or three glasses – and you have already chosen a dose.
The second rule is not to mix drinks. In strong alcohol a lot, add extra grams with the help of the lungs – it’s dangerous. You can not calculate the dose and overdo it.
In order not to sort out and spoil everything, rituals are needed. The atmosphere, the choice of a glass, special additives and the right snack. This all helps to reveal (or hide) the taste of the drink and makes the feast a feast, not a booze.
Absinthe
Absinthe in undiluted condition is a dubious pleasure, although it is drunk. For 30 milliliters in a glass, not more. But usually it is diluted in one of three ways:
- Pour into a glass of absinthe (all the same 30 milliliters). Put a piece of sugar on a special spoon with holes. A spoon can replace a small dessert fork. Sugar is poured on water to drain into a glass, in a ratio of three to one. Dilute the absinthe sugar water slowly, so that a piece of sugar completely melted.
- The same sugar is first moistened in absinthe and ignited on a spoon. While the sweet is burning, it is slightly corrected with a spoon or fork so that the sugar melts faster and sticks in a glass to the absinthe. Then absinthe (which also lights up with sugar drops) must be extinguished – cover the glass with a lid – and either drink the resulting drink (just do not burn your lips about a hot glass, cool its edges with a slice of orange or lemon), or add 100 milliliters of cold water.
- Make a simple sugar syrup and dilute them with absinthe in the same proportions – one to three.
Calvados
If you do not add Calvados in a cocktail, then you do not need to dilute the drink. Pour calvados of room temperature into a glass-tulip and slowly drink, biting with cheese, fruit (not citrus fruit only) or chocolate.
You can drink at any time of the feast, when you need to kindle an appetite or take a break between changing dishes.
Gin
In a simple way – juniper vodka. The fortress from vodka is almost no different, it is recognized by the coniferous aroma. Drink, like vodka, you need a cold – 4-6 degrees. To have a bite – than it is necessary, is better citrus and salty.
If pure gin is too much, dilute it with mineral water. Gin is good because the proportions can be any – dilute as you see fit, even a drop in a glass of water. A good option if you want to spend the New Year cheerful and sober, but do not want to explain why you do not drink.
Tequila
Tequila is known for a special ritual with lemon and salt. On the back of the palm between the thumb and forefinger are poured salt, a slice of lemon is prepared. First lick the salt, then drink tequila and eat it with lemon.
In another variant, salt is replaced with cinnamon, and lemon – with orange.
Mescal
Another strong representative from Mexico. A few rules of drinking in pure form:
- Do not chill.
- Drink slowly and gradually.
- The caterpillar from the bottle (if it is there) is not necessary.
Mescal, like tequila, you can drink with lemon and salt. Sometimes instead of salt use a mixture of spices, which is attached to the bottle.
If it’s not the taste, but the breathtaking sensations that are important, then the mescal is drunk quickly and washed down with tomato juice with pepper and other spices. But such a hellish way is not for a long night: he quickly intoxicates.
Whiskey
Probably one of the most controversial drinks. Connoisseurs do not agree on how to drink it: dilute or not, chill or heat, what sort can be sent to cocktails, and which one should be sipped without impurities.
Choose yourself what you like best:
- Whiskey as it is. To do this, take elite varieties, that is, single malt whiskey. Drink at a temperature of 18-20 degrees from glasses with thin walls, to slightly warm the drink in the hands, in small sips, holding the alcohol under the tongue.
- Whiskey with ice. Drink from glasses with thick walls and a thick bottom. So drink whiskey from America.
- Whiskey with water. Pure water is diluted with Scotch whiskey. The quality of water is given special attention. Water is added to the glass to 30%, it depends on your tastes.
To bite whiskey like as it is not necessary, but nobody forbids to choose an appetizer to taste.
Cognac
We will not go crazy and divide cognac into brandy and not brandy, it’s still written on labels that it’s cognac.
The rules are as follows:
- A good cognac is not snacked and drunk warm very slowly, warming it in your hands, inhaling the aroma. A glass is filled in a quarter, and drinks begin when they have already eaten.
- Bad cognac is drunk, as you please, because there is no taste and aroma there. They bite a lemon, when everything is bad, but this has nothing to do with the culture of drinking. Drinking to get drunk is generally a bad idea.
Rom
The main rule of the Roma is not to drink like a pirate from a movie, a bottle for an evening. The maximum dose is 100-150 milliliters, otherwise in the morning you will be in for a hell of a hangover and a deep remorse.
Clean rum is drunk, like cognac or whiskey, after dinner, warming the glass in his hand. Drinking is accompanied by a cup of coffee or good chocolate.
Sambuca
A strong drink with a bright anise smell, which in bars is served with fire special effects and tubes for breathing in fumes. This way quickly and strongly intoxicates. We do not recommend setting up games at home with fire, unless you are an experienced bartender.
In a pure form, the sambuk is drunk chilled, coffee beans are placed on the bottom of the glass. In a diluted form – with a mineral water in the proportion of one to two or one to three.
Sake
Not that it is a strong drink in comparison with others, but we could not deprive him of attention.
The meaning in the sake appears if there are seafood or Japanese cuisine on the table and you have a ceramic jug and small bowls. Then the drink is heated on a water bath to 15-30 degrees, poured and drunk.
However, if there is sake, and there are no dishes, then it is cooled and poured into glasses for wine.
In any case, the taste and smell of the sake is specific, unusual.
Vodka
Cold vodka is drunk quickly, with a volley, with small glasses. Be sure to have a snack, drink something non-carbonated, so as not to irritate the stomach and not accelerate intoxication. Snack choose a fairly satisfying, and the glasses – small.
Chacha, arak, rakia, grappa are essentially variants of moonshine. They drink almost like vodka: little by little, in a cooled form, in small portions and with an abundant snack.
