AV-TEST is a very respected German antivirus laboratory, whose specialists are engaged in the search and analysis of malicious software, and also test existing detection and protection tools for various platforms, including Android.
The rating of Android antiviruses includes two key parameters:
- Protection is the ability to effectively detect threats.
- Usability – the impact on the work of a mobile device.
Lifehacker selected eight antiviruses, which received the highest rating for both parameters, and arranged them in alphabetical order.
On usability they are equal. Antiviruses do not adversely affect the battery life, speed and traffic consumption of the mobile device. There are no false positives when using secure applications from Google Play and third-party sources.
Only anti-viruses can detect threats and additional functions.
Please note: when testing, the AV-TEST laboratory uses the settings set in the application by default. The user when choosing an antivirus gets the appropriate level of protection and usability right after installation, that is without studying the settings and any changes.

Other Antiviruses
The compilation did not include the antiviruses AhnLab V3 Mobile Security and Baidu Mobile Security, which also received the highest rating for both parameters, but they do not even support English.
Avast Mobile Security Antivirus Antivirus received the highest rating for protection, but the AV-TEST laboratory revealed a tendency for this application to increase battery consumption.
Popular antiviruses ESET Mobile Security Antivirus and Intel Security MacAfee Mobile Security received the highest rating for usability, but showed a slightly lower percentage of threat detection than the leaders.
